The Welsh 3000s Challenge in aid of Centrepoint
In the early hours of 24th July 2010, two of my friends and I will set off from Pen y Pass in order to complete the Welsh 3000s Challenge. You are required to climb to the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft of Snowdonia within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport.
The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total. The walk is also known as "The 14 Peaks" (although there are officially 15 peaks).
So how difficult is this challenge? Well according to the welsh3000s website "It’s very rocky, and both uphill and downhill sections are demanding. Navigation can also be problematic without previous knowledge of this area of Snowdonia. Additionally, one mountain, Crib Goch, is very exposed – several people have died on it."
So it could be a total nightmare which is why I decided to try and raise some money for Centrepoint. Centrepoint looks after young homeless people who live a daily nightmare on the streets of London. Centrepoint offers kindness, compassion and care to some of the most vulnerable and neglected people withn our society. They work with young people who often have little sense of self-worth and help them to tackle the underlying issues behind their homelessness so that they become resolute, resourceful and resilient.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. Many thanks
