Story
The reason I am running for Tommy's is because, other than being a premature baby myself, in December 2014 my wife Shell, gave birth to our wonderful son Stanley. He was born prematurely, 7 weeks before his due date. During pregnancy Shell had a condition called obstetric cholestasis; this occurs in around 1 of every 150 pregnancies in the UK. The week before the birth Shell was admitted to hospital due to the impact this coniditon was having on her and potentially Stanley.
Although Shell's condition improved, these complications led to Stanley's early arrival last December. Luckily, Stanley was born without any major complications; he received amazing care for 12 days from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I am thankful to have a healthy and happy family and know that without previous research into this area, we may not have been as fortunate. This is why I want to raise money for such a fantastic charity that helps fund research towards stillbirth, premature birth and miscarriages.
