Hello!

Some of you may be aware of the Pickle, Peanut and Pancake experience that I put Tony through this summer, the finale to which is this Sunday!  For those of you who haven’t guessed what’s coming, read on!

(to  the sound of “our tune” please)

Much to the horror of everyone living on our street, back at the end of Spring a rather large and asbo-esque seagull chose to nest in a particularly stupid spot, a ledge over a bay window opposite our house.  Within weeks the first of the little chicks (of which there were 3) took a tumble and wandered up and down the road squawking whilst the parents attacked every car, cyclist and pedestrian within 20 feet.

I fretted and fretted and fretted some more about the fate of the chick whilst Tony flicked through the sports channels and drank a cold cider.  When I asked him if he actually intended to do anything to help his answer was “let fat Louie sort it out”.

Fat Louie is a Lion King of a cat that lives on our street.

Needless to say 24 hours later the chick, by now named Pickle was living in YaYa’s old crate in our living room creating havoc.  Tony showed his truly caring side by offering to murder Pickle and so after much searching I found a brilliant place called Secret World in Bridgewater who offered to take and rear Pickle.

A mercy dash to the Wildlife sanctuary ensued and Pickle was placed in a safe house away from Tony, YaYa and Fat Louie.

One week later, a repeat performance, this time with Pancake.  Pancake was duly placed in the safe house with Pickle.  Peanut was the only survivor and lived on the ledge until he was big enough to fly.  Peanut’s only brush with death came when pest control arrived to deal with an anonymous complaint about his existence.  Happily ‘elf and safety meant they weren’t happy about getting up the ladder with Asbo Ma and Pa waiting for them.

Fast forward a month and I was watching Pickle and Pancake on the sanctuary’s webcam when a message popped up looking for kind hearted, wildlife loving people  to raise money for Secret World in the Bristol Half Marathon.  I thought of Tony’s heartwarming approach to the chicks and duly entered him to represent his favourite wildlife sanctuary on Sunday!  I have offered him up for fundraising PR, giving Secret World’s press department lots of material such as “why is Tony’s favourite wildlife animal a badger” etc.

I have my hand out for sponsorship as we need to raise £150 for what is a fab cause, it’s just that Tony doesn’t support it!  So I ask that you imagine it is me dressed as a badger on Sunday and pledge some funds so that I can do my bit to make sure Secret World still exists this time next year as apparently seagulls like to return to the same place to nest!  www.secretworld.org

Thanks guys and I look forward to hearing about your cash pledges!
