We inspire children and young people to engage positively in their communities

Story

Starting on Friday 8th May 2015 until Sunday 17th May 2015 I will be running the Brathay 10in10.  10 official marathons around the Brathay Windmere marathon course over 10 consecutive days.  That's a blister inducing 262 hilly miles over one of the countries toughest road marathon course.

This is my 2nd attempt at this incredible challenge, having completed it in 2013.  Those 10 days in 2013 and the 9 months of training that went into the event were some of the toughest I've ever been through - physically, mentally and emotionally, day 3 and days 7 & 9 were so painful and tough that I was in tears for a lot of the course .  So why put yourself through this again?  It's a question I've asked myself a number of times.  I always want to challenge myself and if my blood, sweat and tears can help raise the profile and vital funds for this amazing charity then that will be reward enough for me.

Brathay Trust work with some of the most disadvantaged children and young adults from around the the country, working with them on long term programmes to help turn their lives around for the individual(s) concerned and for the benefit of the community in which they live.

We work with a wide range of young people, often with fewer opportunities in life, including those managing the transition from living in care to independence, at risk of exploitation in unhealthy relationships, needing confidence to find work or training, or facing other challenges in their lives.
