Tourism Concern fights exploitation in tourism. We are an independent, non-industry based, UK charity. We are the only organisation in Europe actively campaigning on tourism and human rights. Our vision is for a world free from exploitation in which all parties involved in tourism benefit equitably and in which relationships between industry, tourists and host communities are based on trust and respect.

My story

Tourism Concern urgently needs your support to continue our vital work campaigning for communities all over the world whose lives are being negatively impacted by tourism.

As a small independent organisation, Tourism Concern has been hit hard by the economic downturn. We are now so short of core funding that our future is in serious doubt.

We need to raise £40,000 in order to continue.

Tourism Concern is the only NGO in Europe fighting exploitation in the global tourism industry. Without us, there would be nobody in this country to challenge the powerful grasp that tourism has over the lives and environments of so many people – particularly the poor and the powerless. This is confirmed again and again by the messages of thanks and appreciation that we receive from our local partners and all over the world.

We have so much exciting and important work planned for the next few months. This includes:

- A hard-hitting new report challenging government and industry to take action to tackle tourism’s impacts on human rights

- A major exhibition of stunning photographs which will tell the stories of communities impacted by coastal tourism developments in India

- A ground-breaking new campaign addressing water equity in tourism

Without Tourism Concern and the ongoing support of ethical minded tourists and individuals all over the world, the people, communities and causes that we have helped over the last 20 years will be left without a voice and a champion in the UK.
