Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Please - please tick the Gift Aid box - it really counts (an extra £2.20 from HMRC for every £10 that you donate)
Here is an idea of what I am doing -
My challenge is to Cycle China from 30 April - 9 May 2011 covering a variety of terrains including lots of UPHILLS ! so its pretty tough - and I can't even remember the last time I was on a bike!
Rather than enjoy a relaxing holiday with friends to celebrate my 45th birthday year, I decided to put others first and try to raise a substantial amount of money for charity in the process.
Women for Women is a fantastic charity and the money is spent on ground breaking research to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a range of devastating conditions affecting women and their babies. This includes brain injury, miscarriage, infertility, cancer and genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy. They also help to train women scientists of the highest calibre to work on major projects with the fundamental aim of ensuring women's ongoing good health throughout their lives.
So please dig deep girls and guys (for all the girls in your life) and help me reach or exceed my target of £3,300.
Please - please don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box so that Women for Women can claim more back from the Tax man - helping raise even more money.
Come along and watch me train at the Mountbatten Centre, Tipner, Portsmouth - who have willingly offered to sponsor my training and membership.
Thank you for your support

Reported to Mountbatten Centre at 11am to go through my induction and a quick lesson on how to use all the equipment I am going to need. I really have my work cut out, as I was out of breath within 5 minutes....oh lordy, what have I let myself in for?
Thank you Chris for walking me through the process.

Called into Express FM today and they have agreed to help with my fundraising efforts - we have a great idea in mind and should be able to give you more information later...but watch his space - it will be hysterical if we can convince Debenham's to join in!
Tuesday 2nd February 2010
Training today was a lot of fun - I stayed at home on my Wii, as I'd left it too late to head off to the Mountbatten Centre. So I've hula-hopped, jogged, stepped, tightrope walked, been a penguin and boxed my way into every muscle hurting.... remind me next time to take it a bit easier!
Wednesday 3rd February 2010
Have approached Cadbury's today with my begging bowl out - hoping to get my hands on several hundred Jelly Babies to have a 'guess the number of babies' event... maybe the Royal Navy will give me a spot at their Field Gun Event as I need to start getting the money in, if I've any hope of reaching this big target. (Hopefully I have an good ally in Christine at Cadbury's and Steven at RN)
Friday 5th February 2010
Christine came up trumps with a voucher to buy Jelly Babies for one of my events.
Friday 12th February 2010
What a shame! debenhams don't want to come out to play after all... well - onwards and upwards, I'll just call Rhoda at Cascades Shooping Centre instead.

OMG WOW - a huge thank you to Guy Watson of the British Cycling Club at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth - He has offered his help with my 'professional' cycling training, along with the correct clothing, protection and maybe even a BIKE!!! I might actually have a bike I can borrow to train on...thank you so much Guy and I am so looking forward to seeing you on Friday 19th at 18:15 to join in your regualr weekly meeting and get a few tips and hints. He so easy to talk to, get yourself along there and see what you are missing. I'll add a weblink ater my chat with folks.
Thursday 18th February 2010
a big thank you to our local Portsmouth 'trade only' sweetie distribution centre - Hancocks, for supplying 2 very very large bags of Jelly babies. I had purchased some from the Cadbury's store in Gunwharf using the voucher sent from Cadbury's and they made sure I paid the £1 outstanding. Whereas, the moment I walked into Hancocks, explained what I was doing and I was not only made to feel very welcome by Darren Bailey, I was also taken around the centre and helped to my car with my arms full of goodies - thank you Darren and your team for your kindness.
Friday 19th February
Met with Guy tonight to go through some ideas and requirements for help with my training - It was great having an opportunity to see what happens down there and I sat on the track bike that I am allowed to use during my track training. Still a little unclear on what's what, so hopefully will speak to Guy again when he is a little less busy - as everyone wants him to share his knowledge during the time I was there, so it was a little hard to get a word in. Better luck next time.
Saturday 20th February 2010

Saturday 6th March 2010 - Tesco Fundraising Day
Firstly may I start with a big Thank you to Tesco North Harbour for allowing us to invade your store and to the Mountbatten Centre for the loan of the static bike.
We arrived at 8.30am and started to set up - this was to be one very long and possibly painful day, but we were ready and up-for-it. First 'Volunteer' on the bike was Scott Kefford, who took to the bike like a duck to water and seemingly pedaled without effort and then came back and did another hour!!. Next up was Tracy Carroll, who despite requesting not to be photographed ended up splashed all over 'The News' when the newspaper photographer arrived....sorry Tracy...LOL!
Thank you then to Charmaine Moignard, who took over from Tracy and then roped her husband Barry in to fill a gap in our cycling volunteers list!
Ah now here is a brave one - despite feeling very poorly during the week Sharon Allen kept her promise and arrived on time to do her hour on our bike - she really was a super trooper for not letting us down. Then came the giggling and rowdy lot - my gorgeous husband Steven, friend Caroline Tallyn and her husband Steve. Within a few minutes, we brought the store to life and entertained many of the customers with our giggling and encouragement to part with their money.
All in all we had a fantastic day, the staff at Tesco were very helpful throughout the whole day, the customers were generous to a fault and my friends who came along to pedal and help out - well you rock! I couldn't have done it without you..... WE raised a total of £447.69 and this will show on my totals page soon.
Monday 8th March 2010
Took a phone call today and nearly fell off my chair! Whilst in Tesco on Saturday I got speaking to a young man from Portsmouth North End Cycling Club http://www.pnecc.co.uk - Paul Martin. Having had several offers of training, clothing, bikes etc which didn't really come to anything I was quietly reserved at his offer. I needn't have been... this man put his money where his mouth was and has really pulled out ALL the stops. And so gracious too in his offer of help - not once has he asked for anything in return (as it's ALL for charity at the end of the day) and has really and truly come up with the goods. I now have the offer of a bike on loan, free membership to the club, offers of joining in on their cycling days out and cycling clothing - none of which is cheap I can tell you. Watch this space for up-dates.
Wednesday 17th March 2010
Had fantastic meeting this morning with Martin and Louise from Brown Sugar Events http://www.brownsugarevents.biz - who bring the All Woman Show to Hampshire http://www.allwomanshow.co.uk for all us ladies out there!
As luck would have it, I was looking for a major sponsor and they were looking for a charity that fit with their ethos and reflected their business...... as a great believer in laws of attraction we are now co-working on raising money for Women-for-Women. They have some great events coming up - so check out their sites and get along to them - don't forget to drop some money into my collection tins whilst you are there though!
Monday 29th March 2010
