My story
Thanks for coming here! I am trying to raise as much money as possible to help the Jubilee Sailing Trust pay off the remaining mortgage on its magnificent tall sailing ship the Tenacious, the largest wooden tall sailing ship in the world built during the last century. Check out this video to see what tall ship sailing JST-style is like: Azores Voyage April 2012
Along with its sister ship the Lord Nelson, it is uniquely designed to allow people with various physical disabilities to be fully involved in the challenges of sailing the ships. Both are operated by the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST), an inspirational organisation that provides life-changing opportunities to sail.
The Tenacious celebrated its 10th birthday in August 2010. It was built in Southampton at a cost of £14million with the help of volunteers from all walks of life as well as skilled craftsmen. Most of the build cost was raised at the time by a huge appeal. Further funds are urgently needed to pay off the remaining mortgage overhang to relieve the JST of this burden once and for all and secure its future. The amount needed is just over £800,000.
I signed up to the JST’s ‘800 club’, where each member pledges to raise £1000. But I would like to raise much more! As a musician specialising in Folk, Rock, easy listening and jazz standards with guitar accompaniment, I aim to do this by organising concerts in the community for various groups and donating the proceeds.
I am passionate about the work this charity does, and when I have sailed with them I have seen at first hand the miraculous effects the experience has on people. Take a look at my video to get an idea of what it's all about. I want to help the JST to pay off this debt so that future fundraising can go to its good works rather than on interest payments.
I would really appreciate any contribution you can make. You can Gift Aid any size donation and be anonymous too. The odd quid here and there all adds up, like drops of water filling a barrel.
And why not sign up for a voyage yourself? It is an unforgettable experience where you really are 'all in it together', to borrow a phrase! Thanks, Steve

My updates 4
I’ve reached 1% of my target! I've had so much help, support and generosity from people involved in music – community clubs, voluntary groups and social events. I’ve done over 50 gigs this year, so ‘thank you’ to everyone concerned. It’s great to know that some people care!
I am absolutely totally determined to raise enough to make the percentage indicator flip over to 1% of my target before the year is out! Any suggestions welcome!
I've just put a new film on YouTube about my Azores voyage in April 2012 to help my fund raising. It's got a great song by my friend Lee Collinson. Hope you like it and that it inspires you! Search for Lord Nelson Azores Voyage April 2012
Hi, I've reached the £5000 mark, so thanks to all who have supported me. Next up is a 'Songs of the Sea' concert at the Ram Club, Old Cranleighan club, Thames Ditton, Surrey on July 20th, with various great artists. Come along! £5 min. More details www.theramclub.co.uk

We have seen time and time again, the benefits to both able-bodied and disabled people who have sailed on the LORD NELSON and TENACIOUS. Any help you are able to give will enable us to continue to make a difference, not just on our ships but in the homes, workplaces and communities of all our voyage crew. So many of the lessons learnt on our ships.
