This year's Treworgey charity raffle is in support of the Looe RNLI Lifeboats who do essential and extraordinary work rescuing locals and visitors alike. They really are an excellent cause - you always hope that you won't need them, but the knowledge that they are there to rescue you and me, should we get into difficulties around our coast.
With talk of closures of coastguard stations and particularly with the tragic loss of our local MP's fisherman husband at sea, the Lifeboats and the work they do are particularly poignant this year. The Lifeboats at Looe need to raise £5,500 this year to fund special new search and rescue lifejackets for their fully-trained volunteer crew, the design of which will improve both their safety and their ability to move better and thus aid in their rescue missions.
