Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to detect the odour of disease. Our research includes cancer, Parkinson's and other diseases and could save millions of lives by improving diagnostics. We already help people manage complex, life-threatening medical conditions by training Medical Alert Dogs.

Story

Hello!

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our page. We at Tubby Challenge are so excited that you have decided to help support the fabulous Medical Detection Dogs.

Medical Detection Dogs are a very unique charity who are undertaking pioneer work in the training of dogs to detect human disease by odour with an emphasis on cancer detection. The Charity also train Medical Assistance Dogs to alert individuals managing day to day life threatening health conditions such as acute diabetes, Addisonian crisis, pain seizures and Narcolepsy, giving them greater independence and above all saving lives on a daily basis. All Medical Detection dogs are donated to the Charity and many of these dogs are from rescues. Check out Medical Detection Dogs website, their work could one day save your life.

Tubby Challenge was devised by a group of friends in the UK and the USA to raise money for Medical Detection Dogs, through a series of fun, sponsored, get fit weight loss competitions.

Tubbies have been putting down their cream buns, backing away from the fridge and so far have shed an amazing 175 pounds, but we need to continue.

It costs about £10,000 (US$ 15,000) to train a special assistance dog. To date, thanks to the generosity of sponsors we have raised £1,520 (US$2,280) so we have purchased approximately one dog's nose and a tail but we would love to be able to fund a whole dog or make a more meaningful contribution to research.

Every donation, no matter how small helps, so if you can spare a few pennies THANK YOU!

(To assist our US friends £1 is approximately US$1.5)

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s a most efficient way to donate.
