Thank you for taking the time to visit.
Deborah Digges was, without a doubt, one of the most exceptional people I have ever met. Her wild spirit, her deft skill with language, and her kind voice made me look forward to her class and her work, to seeing her both on and off the page. Her grace is missed and her ardent devotion will always remind me how inclusive every single moment can really be.
Deborah's unconventional life was full of time spent with her large, extended family and students, time spent writing and volunteering at animal shelters, and time spent traveling to Africa, where she would frequent to work with children at an orphanage near .
Tumaini Home of Hope is one of many organizations in established to enrich and empower the lives of orphans. It accepts children (via Kenyan social Services) between the ages of 0-5 who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. It provides a home, lots of loving care, and comfort to these young children until they reach adulthood. 'Tumaini’ is a Swahili word for ‘hope’.
Jessica and I thank you for your generosity and for donating to an important cause in the memory of a truly incredible person. If you'd like to read more about Deborah, please see the recent article in Tufts Magazine --
