As you may know I am hoping to move to Singapore in early October 2011 to join the Overseas Mission Fellowship (OMF) as part of their media team.
The work I will be doing with OMF, though not normally considered frontline gospel work, is nonetheless an important part of modern mission. Essentially, my work will be part of what mission organizations term ‘mobilization’ – getting Christians involved in mission by prayer and finance or becoming missionaries themselves. For me that will mean using my media skills to communicate what is happening in the world of mission to Christians at home in a way that inspires and engages and to improve the flow of information between supporters and missionaries.
I will, God willing, join OMF for an initial period of one year. Though I’ll be based in Singapore, I will be working all over Asia gathering stories, photographs and documentary footage. I will not be paid by OMF and therefore require to raise around £8,000-10,000 for the one year period. This sum covers visas, accommodation, travel within Singapore, inoculations, personal needs (toiletries, clothing, medicine etc…) and a small travel budget that will be used to cover immediate costs when I am in the field.
It would be a great blessing if you could partner with me either through prayer or financial assistance. The £8,000 figure would be achievable if, for example, 33 people give £20 a month over the next 12 months. I understand that for some of you such a sum is not realistic whilst others may wish to contribute more, but any amount would be hugely appreciated and would go a long way in helping me fund the next year with OMF.
