Hey!
I'm sure many of you know that next year I'm off to volunteer in Zambia for a whole 8 months.
Its a pretty scary prospect - no electricity or running water, working with one or two Zambian volunteers, creepy crawlies and man-eating animals, strange food and most importantly a country with one of the highest HIV/AIDS levels in the world. My programme, with the charity Student PartnershipWorldwide, aims to raise awareness and understanding of health issues, most notably HIV. In a few months time I will be the safe sex guru of Africa!
I'll be doing lots of other things as well, such as organizing sports events and community days, helping teach a few lessons and becoming part of a rural Zambian community.
I order to cover just part of the costs to send me out to Zambia and give me and the other volunteers the training we need I need to raise £3600 by Christmas. I'm already over half way having raised £1850, please help me raise the other half, and in doing so support a genuinly amazing project. I'm going to be working in Zambia from January til August 2010, thats 34 weeks or 238 days, making each day cost £15. I think I'm worth £15 a day! If you would be able to sponsor me for one of these days any donation would be much appreciated, by me, SPW and the communities in Zambia this project will reach. Shout which day you would like to sponsor and your address - I'll send you a postcard with what I did that day (although due to Africa's dodge postal system it might arrive slightly late...) so you can see where your cash really goes.
Thank you!
