In May 2006, we (3 teams of Virgin Mobile staff) cycled over 500 miles to raise money for charity!!
We left our Middlesbrough site on Monday 22nd May and cycled down the country to our Trowbridge office for the middle of the week and a spot of lunch. We then travelled the last couple of legs from the West Country across to London and cycled at our Leicester Square office on Friday 26th May for a big finish. The whole trip took us 5 days of cycling for 10 hours per day. We covered over 500 miles. Ouch!
The elements were working against us for most of the week and everyone got pretty wet and windswept. Some days people were cycling into headwinds of up to 20mph! There were also a number of blisters, boils and bruises in places there shouldn't have been!
All in all everyone had a really enjoyable week and there is even talk of the Big Ride 2007, so who knows!
We have managed to raise an incredible amount of money for our two charities that are dear to us: The ABC Trust and Cancer Research UK. For that we all feel incredibly proud of our achievement.
