After being diagnosed 2 weeks ago with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I decided that I would try to make something positive come from my Cancer, just like my amzing son Anton did with his. I am asking people to sponsor me to have my head shaved before I loose it all too Chemotherapy. On Saturday 13th August 2011, at The Anton Day Smile Foundation Charity Shop, I will be having my head shaved, and my hair will be sent to another Charity that makes hair for children with cancer. I will do everything that I possibly can to raise as much money for my Sons Charity whilst I can.
What ever happens I will always know that I had, the most wonderfull son for 24 years no Mum could ever ask for better. I got to marry my soul mate Tony twice.
I have the best family ( The Bellamy's you really are the greatest there is) & the most wonderfull friends in the world. 1 great Dad 3 amazing brothers Antony, Aurelio & Edward. I love you all so very much. Be happy everyone. Life can be so unbeleivably cruel, but it is what it is. Whatever the future brings, I will always know that I have been loved and cared for by the very best!!!xxx
THE ANTON DAY SMILE FOUNDATION
REGISTERED CHARITY No. 1127301
STRIVING TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR PATIENTS AND FAMILIES AFFECTED BY LEUKAEMIA
Anton tragically passed away on the 4 September 2008 at the age of 24, after a 5-year battle against Leukaemia.
When Anton was told that he was terminal after the disease had returned for the third time, his wish was for a charity to be set up to help sufferers of Leukaemia and other blood cancers and the patient’s families and carers, while they are going through treatments for these terrible diseases.
Unfortunately Anton did not survive long enough to see this happen but me and his Dad took this on and The Anton Day Smile Foundation has now become a Registered Charity No. 1127301.
The Anton Day Smile Foundation is working in conjunction with the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals in Oxford, which is where Anton received all of his treatment over the years.
Initially the charity has targeted raising £50,000 for a patients and family garden at the newly built Cancer Care Centre at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford, that will be used by patients there to have a tranquil and peaceful area to go to “to get away from it all”.
Anton was a regular user of the gardens at the John Radcliffe Hospital and found that it helped him enormously.
After this target has been achieved the charity will then start to fund items at the Hospital that will make patients, families and carers lives that little bit easier. These are items that, due to limited government budgets, the NHS do not fund, for example: - portable TV’s and DVD players, bedside fans, Film and Book library, new blankets and pillows, children’s toys and games etc. The charity will also look to fund an Internet Suite so that people can keep in touch through email, social networking sites and to keep tabs on the outside world.
Another aspect that the charity will be funding, is for patients, families and carers to go on short break respite holidays in Spain. Tony and I own an apartment in Spain that they will be donating the use of to the charity, free of charge, as and when required.
So there is a lot to do and would personally like to thank you for showing your interest and support.
