Hi folks, welcome to my page. Just a bit of background to say why I'm doing this swim. About a year ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease - rather a shock for us both at the time. It is causing weakness & tremor in my left arm and leg. As a result we are finding out as much as we can about the disease. This we have done with the help of the Society's website (www.parkinsons.org.uk ) and also by joining our local 'Parky' club. The support is out there as long as there is money to pay for it......... So back to me. I am 76, not a strong swimmer. I started off, at the local pool, doing widths and having to stop after each one to get my breath (I'm asthmatic). Now I've progressed to lengths and am currently managing 20 in just over an hour. I intend to see how many lengths I can do, without drowning!! I am asking that any donations to my charity go towards the cost of training & providing specialist PD nurses. These nurses are so important in providing the expertise required in helping to manage this condition, which affects each PD patient in a different way! PLEASE SPONSOR ME for this very worthy cause with whatever you can afford. Anything from a pound upwards will be much appreciated - every little helps!! As the saying goes,"many a mickle mak's a muckle" Don't forget to claim the charity exemption if you are eligible! Many thanks for your support folks, God bless you all. Vic Woolley
