My story

After hearing about a local children’s hospice ForgetMeNotChild who help families and children get the very best out of every minute of their lives no matter how short I was moved enough to try and make a small difference.

The problem is, I don’t have rich friends, or own a business, nor am I famous or have links with anyone who is, so running 10k, whilst quite a feat for me, isn’t that exciting for potential sponsors, and isn’t exactly headline grabbing which got me thinking…

I’m nearly 35, generally fit and well yet have done very little that could be described as exciting or adventurous. Am I taking for granted the days and years I have and have had without fully living them? Maybe out of sheer respect to those that will never have the chance I should.

Should I spend a month or so doing all those things I’ve put off, was too scared to try or not even bothered to think about?

So far I have signed up for the following events as a personal challenge to myself and to hopefully raise some well deserved cash for Forget Me Not:

17th June 500m Swim for All - an open water swim in a hopefully nice clean lake in Wakefield, a challenge because I cant really swim very well at all (lessons booked, fear not!)

30th June Yorkshire 3 Peaks climbing Yorkshires famous 3 Peaks in under 12 hours something I have always wanted to do but never given myself reason enough to take the time out and actually do it.

19th August (my BIRTHDAY!) 14 Mile Dales walk I entered a Jane Tomlinson/Yorkshire Post competition and my runners up prize was free entry to any ‘For All Event‘ of my choice,  as it was my birthday it HAD to be this event

last but maybe not least

23rd September Im running the Southport Beach 10K

I hope I can do the cause justice, hope you can all help, even just £2 would be amazing.
