WE DID IT!!!!
Woohoo! I've reached & exceeded my target of raising £500 for SPRING.
Doing the Sky Dive was AMAZING!! By far the best thing I have ever done & I have no doubt I will do it again. The weather was just perfect and the views breathtaking. Everyone should sky dive at least once in their life!
A massive thank you to everyone who has donated and supported me to raise this money for such a deserving cause.

UPDATE
Unfortunately due to exceptionally long delays and then a weather hold, we had to abandon our plans to do the skydive on 6th September. It has been re-booked for Sunday, 27th September so lots more time for donations to be made!!!
On Sunday 6th September 2009 I will quite literally be taking the plunge...out of an aircraft at 13,000 ft! Why? Because it's for an extremely good cause...
S.P.R.I.N.G. (Supporting Parents and Relatives In Neonatal Grief) is a charity based at Poole Maternity Unit. It is run by bereaved parents and relatives as well as professionals including counsellors and midwives. S.P.R.I.N.G. provides invaluable support to parents and relatives who have experienced the death of a baby either in pregnancy (including miscarriage, still birth or termination for fetal abnormality) or shortly following birth.
S.P.R.I.N.G. supports parents and relatives in a variety of ways which includes counselling, holding monthly support meetings, befriending bereaved parents and relatives through a telephone/email service, providing training and guidance to midwives and other professionals to meet the needs of bereaved parents and relatives ... the list goes on. The people involved with S.P.R.I.N.G. do an amazing job and need all the support they can get. If you would like to find out more about S.P.R.I.N.G. please visit their website on www.springsupport.org.uk.
As not only a midwife, but also as a mum, I am very passionate about S.P.R.I.N.G. and the work they do having personally cared for women and their families following the loss of their babies. My most memorable and profound experiences as a midwife have come from looking after bereaved parents. The bond and relationship you build with the parents you are caring for is difficult to articulate and virtually impossible to describe. The bereaved parents and relatives will never see their babies' smile, crawl, cut their first tooth, walk, first school day, teenage tantrums, graduation, wedding, have babies themselves or create any of the other memories that we all look forward to as parents and take for granted.
The grief they bear is immeasurable which makes the support S.P.R.I.N.G. provides so invaluable. In order that S.P.R.I.N.G. can continue with the amazing work it does, it is vitally important that we raise whatever funds we can to ensure its future and ongoing support.
One small way of doing this is by me (and others) jumping out of a plane at 13,000 ft strapped to an instructor, freefalling for about 40 seconds and then parachuting a further 5 minutes back to earth. One massive way in which you can contribute is by donating generously. I need to raise a minimum of £250 but have set a personal goal of at least £500. Please help me achieve this goal!
I am absolutely terrified of jumping out of a plane but this is NOTHING compared to the bravery of the bereaved parents and relatives who will continue to benefit from the excellent work by S.P.R.I.N.G.
