As you know I've been running for a few years now and have entered a number of events. I have never done the sponsorship charity thing... until now! A couple of weeks ago I was asked to join a charity team to run in the Hairy Haggis Relay. We will run with - and cover the same route as the Edinburgh Marathon.
HOPE is a UK charity that champions and supports adults with the combination of autism and learning disabilities. HOPE’s mission is to help shape and create a future where they can make a positive contribution to the workforce and to their community.
This year HOPE are running to raise money to help establish and equip a social enterprise which will support adults with autism and a flair for horticulture, giving them a base where they can learn new skills and then earn money providing garden maintenance services. Every little helps: donations of £1 can buy seeds and £5 can buy basic tools. £2000 will buy a polytunnel.
Social Inclusion and Opportunity for Employment has probably affected us all at some point and to varying degrees. By raising sponsorship money for HOPE I know we are supporting an organisation that helps people to realise their full potential.
On the 23rd May I will be running about 8 miles back in my homeland. I'm really honoured to have been given the opportunity to take part. So please sponsor me and donate what you can - no matter how small - and help to give adults with autism and learning difficulties the opportunity to lead fulfilling lives and live as independently as possible.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
THANKS!
Vic xx
