Thanks (zicomo) for stopping by to visit our page! This page was set up by the team going to Malwai in January 2010 to rasie funds for VAO and consequently our project.

We had a very sucessful trip - during the 2 weeks in Malawi we travelled around rural areas setting up clinics in schools and health centres. The people in the areas we visited normally would not have the oppertunity to have a consultation with an optometrist nor the means of obtaining spectacles. Our team (with the help of the country partner Mukoa, volunteer translators and Mr Ellington Mbandera) managed to undertake around 1,250 eye tests and dispensed just over 1,000 pairs of spectacles to very well deserved homes :)

We would like to thank everyone who has donated (or who is continuing to donate!) towards the important work of VAO. 

Each volunteer paid £600 towards the trip, which did not cover the total cost of the trip (only about half). The money raised here is in addition to this, to help VAO to pay for vital equipment and with running costs of the project.
