Having reached the semi-finals of the Times Leadership Challenge, QBE Team MAD are one step away from the experience of a lifetime - working with others in Malawi helping to refurbish a school in Mamine and constructing a teacher's accomodation duplex to attract extra teachers.  We need to raise money to go directly to funding this project and we set ourselves a challenge - which we achieved.....

We walked overnight from our (QBE) Chelmsford office to our London HQ arriving at 08.07 on 10 August.  Having set off with 20 litres of water, collected from the River Chelmer – the amount that many in Malawi collect and then carry over long distances back to their village - we walked for 10½ hours through the very long night, picking up blisters, sore feet and aching backs as time went on - not to mention the variety of calls from cars in the Brentwood area!

We thank all of our doners and sponsors for their generous support.

If you would still like to continue to donate this would be fantastic and will Make a Difference (our team name MAD) for the lives of those in Malawi, which ranks amongst the poorest countries in the world.  If you are a UK tax payer, please remember to tick the gift-aid box so that an extra 20% can be raised.  Malawi is one of the most densely populated and least developed countries - prone to natural disasters, from drought to heavy rainfall and with widespread malnutrition. Infant mortality rates remain high with life expectancy low and whilst literacy rates are improving, there is still a long way to go.

All money raised will go to the charity Accounting for Africa - there are no administration costs, so every penny raised really does go directly to funding these community projects.

So thanks once and again and remember - with your help we really CAN make a difference.

Thanks from QBE Team MAD -

Carl Andersen, Jamie Thompson, Jonathan White, Lee Watts, Debbie Lewzey and Matteo Bonfa
