Walk for Water - 30th May 2010

Join us in Hathersage on 30th May 2010 at 10:00am to Walk for Water!

We suggest that everyone donate £10 per person, or £15 per family, and encourage everyone to raise more through sponsorship.

Walk for Water is a fundraising campaign organised by Project African Wilderness (PAW).  Our aim is to raise funds to provide a safe water supply to Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve in southern Malawi.

PAW is a partnership of people in Malawi and Europe, who are working together to save part of the natural wilderness in Malawi.  In the UK, we fundraise, promote awareness and offer education in conservation.

Since 2007, we have been 'walking for water.'  In 2010, Walk for Water is going national to help us complete our urgently needed water projects.

Why Walk for Water?

In a nutshell, the people living in the villages of Mwabvi and the animals living in the Wildlife Reserve walk for miles to get access to safe water.  An estimated 60,000 people live in the villages around Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve with no piped water supply.

When you walk for water with PAW, you will be helping to raise funds that will be used to provide a clean, local supply of water where it is needed most so that people in Malawi don't have to walk as far everyday.

How do We Spend the Money We Raise Walking for Water?

We work with the people around the reserve to:

 -  Agree the best locations for a water supply

 -  Pay for the hire of equipment & personnel to install boreholes

 -  Provide pipes & electric pumps and maintain them

Provide a supply of fresh, clean water where it is needed most!
