Well here I am, I can't believe it, running my first Marathon - albeit a baby half one!!! I had been 'gentle' jogging for a wee while now when the opportunity came along to join the BA team and raise money for UNICEF. It came along just when I needed to focus on a goal to help me become fitter and healthier. However it was more important to have a purpose, an incentive to do something worthwhile in the process.
We all know the great work that UNICEF does for children all around the world and I am very happy to make a personal contribution. As I have reached my target of £550.00 I am opening this new page for the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Unit UCLH.
I wanted to take this opportunity to support a charity that lies close to my heart, the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Unit, University College Hospital London, in memory of Richard Ableson, nephew of my sister-in-law, Sara. As Sara is the Unit's fundraiser I know that donations vastly improve the experience of patients by providing free complementary therapy, amenities, state of the art medical equipment and support postgraduate education for nurses. The lives of my close friends and family have been touched by the support and innovative treatment provided by this Unit.
