Elephant Family is dedicated to keeping our world a magical and fantastical place by saving the great curiosity of nature, the Asian elephant, from extinction and abuse. Like any charity worth its salt their ambitions are on the ceiling; they are buying up millions of pounds worth of habitat and reconnecting forests that have become fragmented so the Asian elephant can survive in the wild. It's a race against the clock against mega industrialists, human development and over-population, but with the first major strip of habitat almost secured, they are well on their way and every single pound donated will be a footstep further to completion.
This is not just about elephants - as by saving the elephants we are saving the forests - the lungs of the world- and lots of other endangered species, including tigers, orangutans and rhinos. Elephants are the apex species and ambassadors for the entire conservation movement! So when you break it down, Elephant Family is a crucial cog in the conservation movement.
Jerry, Oriana and Wendy (JOW) are running for Sadat the Asian Elephant in Sumatra that Wendy has been dating since December 2008 through www.elephantdating.org
While Jerry and Oriana are seasoned runners, this is Wendy's first attempt at a half Marathon. All three of the JOW team have been training hard and request your support for Wendy's Elephant Sadat.
