We offer expert care, guidance and support to people living with a terminal illness

Story

On September 13th 2015 we shall line up in Newcastle, (with over 12,000 others!) to take on the world's greatest half marathon, The Great North Run, to show our support and raise funds for Marie Curie in Yorkshire. We've called our team Whiteley's Wanderers as we have decided to take on this challenge in memory of Richard Whiteley who sadly died 10 years ago.

We will be raising funds in support of the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford and also the Marie Curie Nurses who provide community based care to patients and families in neighbourhoods all across Yorkshire.

We've visited the Marie Curie Bradford Hospice and know just what a truly special place it is. It offers round-the-clock, expert care and support, in a friendly, welcoming environment, both for people staying in the hospice and those who come in for the day to use the excellent services available.

The community based Marie Curie Nurses work night and day, in people’s homes, providing hands-on care and vital emotional support. If ever faced with a terminal illness, most of us would choose to die peacefully, in our own homes, surrounded by the people that mean the most to us. Marie Curie Nurses make this possible for patients in villages, towns and cities all across Yorkshire every single day. The chance is that a Marie Curie Nurse is caring for someone in your neighbourhood today, and tonight, and you just don't know about it.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to visit our Whiteley's Wanderers JustGiving page to find our more about our challenge - all support for our fundraising is hugely appreciated. Both of us know just what a fantastic charity Marie Curie is and just how incredibly important the support they provide to people and their families when they need it most is.

Wish us luck on our 13 miles in September, and with all our training beforehand!
