Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is about the Sponsored Cycle Ride I have completed in aid of the Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust (OHCT) and , Carterton.  Participants are invited to visit as many churches as possible either on foot or by bicycle; the event takes place on Saturday September 12.

I plan to cycle to as many churches in neighbouring villages and towns in as I can, and I have from to , if I last that long!  I can be sponsored either on the basis of an amount pledged for every church that I succeed in visiting, or as a lump sum.  Sponsorship per church visited adds an element of challenge to the event!

Three years ago I did the same cycle ride, and under ideal conditions of almost no wind and a lovely September day I clocked up a total of 60 churches, riding over 85 miles.  I am not intending to be quite so ambitious this year, and subject to the weather (hopefully no floods!) I aim to visit somewhere between 35 and 45 churches.

Saturday September 12 was blessed with amazingly good weather; if anything it was almost too hot for a long cycle ride.  Despite my rather conservative target I managed to visit 56 churches in the area, cycling 81 miles with about 5 3/4 hours actual peddling time.  Not quite the Tour de France, but the longest distance I had ridden this summer in preparation was about 35 miles.

All money that you are kind enough to donate through this JustGiving page will come to the OHCT, but the Trust will pay half of the donation to , Carterton.  is currently raising funds to enable an extension to be built which will allow it to develop a much-needed Community Centre in the town.  The share that the Trust retains will go towards grants to and Chapels, to help towards repairs to the fabric of the buildings.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the OHCT and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the OHCT.

Alternatively you can send your donation directly to me.  Any cheques should be made out to "OHCT Ride and Stride" - not to me!

If you wish to sponsor me by an amount per church that I visit please let me know by e-mail, so that I have an idea of how we are doing; you can make your donation later when I have told you how successful I have been.  So far I have been promised £5.85 per church visited.

If you would prefer to make a single donation please dig deep and donate now.

Donations and sponsorship so far have been most generous and much appreciated.  If you would still like to contribute after the event you are very welcome to do so, and every donation, however small, will be received with thanks

Thank you very much for your contribution.
