Hello there and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you may know, I am running the London Marathon on 25th April to raise money for a charity close to my heart and to my family, Oasis UK. Oasis look to seek out children and adults who are victims of injustice and help them to get back on their feet, giving them a chance to be included in a safe, healthy and most importantly fair environment. Oasis UK, is all about helping people reach their full potential, giving less fortunate people the opportunities they may not otherwise have had. Oasis aim to serve people and transform communities by promoting inclusion and confronting injustice. For more information on Oasis, please have a look at their website www.oasisuk.org
Since growing up in Blackheath, and watching the marathon start every year, I have always wanted to run this race, and doing it for Oasis makes it all the more amazing and worthwhile. I only hope I am able to do it justice and raise a substantial amount of money, for such a great cause. Although it is a daunting prospect, I am really looking forward to challenging myself in this way. I will be keeping you up to date on this page about the highs and lows of my training in 'sunny' Belfast, whilst trying to keep up to date with my degree.
Your contribution, however small, will be such an amazing help, and could transform the life of someone less fortunate than you. I really appreciate you taking the time to look at my page and I hope to hear from you very soon.
Best Wishes
Will xx
16th March - Have just got home from a 2 hour run up and down the Lagan (the river in Belfast). The thigh's seem to be getting exponentially stronger, wish i could say the same about my tolerance to blisters. Lasagne in the oven, nice source of carbohydrate! Thank you so much for your kind support, it makes every step feel worthwhile.
30th March - I am so pleased to have nearly achieved my fundraising target! Your support has been fantastic! Am home from Belfast for Easter now and have just got home from a run up and down the seafront in Eastbourne. A much more scenic route to take my mind off things! I am heading down to Lympstone with my family for Easter to see my new nephew, Isaac, and will be training along the new Lympstone - Exmouth cycle track. If you come by on a bike, please dont run me down!
08th April - I am really thrilled to have reached and surpassed my target of £3,000. I really can't thank you all enough; it really does make every wobbly step worthwhile! I have had a little bit of trouble with my left knee recently so I went to see my sister, who is conveniently a physiotherapist, and she has given me a great deal of confidence, with some useful exercises and stretches. I am driving back to Belfast tomorrow with dad, to commence my final preparations for two weeks time. That date is getting awfully close now...
24th April - I flew over from Belfast last night for the big day tomorrow. Am really excited about it but a little nervous. The last few days have been relaxed in terms of training which is nice; just doing some stretching and short jogs here and there. My number for tomorrow is 44092. There are a couple of ways you can track my progress if you are interested. On your mobile or iphone text 'RUN' to 83040 and adidas will send you a link to the tracking service. Then just enter my running number. Alternatively if you have facebook, log in and type in the search box 'addidas marathon tracker 2010.' Staying in Blackheath tonight, looks like it should be a nice day tomorrow. Wish me luck! Wx
