Hi Everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This November I will be travelling to Cambodia with a group of colleagues from work to help build homes for Cambodian families with the support of a charity called the Tabitha Foundation. The Cambodian families have themselves saved money over a few years to buy the land and some of the building material, the rest of the funds and materials to build and complete the homes will be raised by us. The group I am with aim to build approx. 20 houses over the period of the 2nd to 6th November 2011. I have the personal target to raise USD $1,000 (approx. £600), which will be the cost for one house I will personally be building.
I travelled to Cambodia during 2009 and was struck by the level of poverty in the country, a beautiful country that has faced over 40 years of war, famine and genocide in it's recent history, I hope with my next trip I can help the people in some small way. As a volunteer, I will be covering my own travel and accommodation expenses , but I am calling out to family members, friends and colleagues to help me raise funds for the building materials and to raise awareness for this Cambodian House Building project run by the Tabitha Foundation.
Since 1994 the Tabitha Foundation has worked with over 500,000 Cambodian people in the poorest communities in the country. Tabitha's philosophy of self-help is designed to promote self sufficiency and dignity through savings, counselling and goal-setting programmes. In ten years the Tabitha Foundation has seen over 2,000 houses constructed by a over 5,000 volunteers. Please do read more at http://www.tabithauk.com/
Donations of any size are gratefully received.
Many thanks
Andrew
