My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Rita and I have made many trips to Brazil and in particular Bahia (Rita's home state) Brazil is a wonderful place for a holiday but it is impossible to ignore the poverty there. For a country with such riches it seems extreemly unjust, which is why we've chosen this charity. Each year instead of spending money on cards, postage and presents we have been donating to the Children of Bahia, if you'd like to contribute to this great cause we'd be very grateful.
(don't worry we are not complete scrooges! the kids & a few others in our families do get presents as well! :-)

Children of Bahia

Children of Bahia is dedicated to fighting child poverty in Bahia, Brazil. We raise funds to support local projects who currently help over two hundred children with shelter, food, medical care, education and the love and support they so desperately need. We hope to help many more with your support. It is hard to understand how these children end up with no-one. Sometimes parents die or are imprisoned or fall ill; sometimes children flee homes due to violence or abuse; sometimes children become part of a gang; there are many reasons. Such children are often viewed at best as a nuisance and at worst as a danger to public safety. Violence against them is common place, and the only way of surviving is through begging, prostitution and crime. It is the aim of Children of Bahia to help to look after and educate as many children as we can over the coming years, to help guide them into a brighter future full of love and support. All our UK staff are un-paid volunteers and over 95% of all donations get to Brazil to help the children directly. Please do support us if you can. www.childrenofbahia.com
