My story

On the 22nd of April I will be running in a race against over 35,000 opponents. Ofcourse, there can only be one winner. There's a chance it won't be me...but I reckon the cause that I'm running for will be of some consolation in the 2012 London Marathon.

I've chosen Concern as my charity because I've been fortunate enough to experience living in one of the most severly deprived countries they're working in today. In the UK we wouldn't question the availability of food and water, in Sierra Leone they are commodities. When you think about how far a fiver would go in the UK it's quite literally ridiculous to think that £5 would feed 3 families of 5 for 2 days in SL.

Concern also has longer term aims in sight, enabling the people to maintain ways of living that can be self-sustainable and continuously productive for the future. Their work centres on education, emergencies, livelihoods, HIV and AIDS and general healthcare in 24 of the poorest and most deprived countries in the world. However, don't just take my word for it, check out all the work they do at http://www.concern.net/
