The Zambia IDEALS Project is a UK Sport initiative, aiming to help Zambian communities sustain the promotion of sport, particularly amongst children. Through sport, the Project also educates these children about the effects and the prevention methods of HIV and AIDS.
Students from the 'Wallace Group' (the Universities of Stirling, UWIC, Bath, Durham, Loughborough and Northumbria) have been going out every summer since 2006, and the summer of 2010 is no different, with 5 more Loughborough students taking part in the Project to continue the fantastic work achieved so far.
Working with 'Sport in Action' and 'EduSport' (two Zambian sports NGO's), we will be coaching children and setting up sustainable sport schemes to be carried on by Zambian coaches. Through these schemes set up in schools, children will be educated about the threat of HIV and AIDS on their communities and how to prevent it.
We can't do this alone - we need your help. Most of these children have no sports clothes, shoes or even balls. Any money through this site, clothes or equipment that you can donate will be gratefully received and put to good use.
Any money we raise will go straight into these communities to develop sustainable long-term schemes to not only help and educate the present generation, but future ones to come as well. This will make a life changing difference to children, communities and a country suffering from the impact of disease.
Look out for Zambia IDEALS Project fundraising events throughout the year and please give generously!
Thank You!
