Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page; I have a story to share and a request to make
In October this year, my 6 year old daughter Zara suffered a significant asthma attack, brough on by whooping cough, which resulted in me having to perform CPR and resusitate her from complete respiritory failure, before she was rushed to hospital in an ambulance. I cannot begin to explain the profoundness of this experience and the humility that it creates.
Thankfully, Zara is now fine and fully recovered. We have decided that given the huge love and support Zara received, she and I want to give somthing back and have therefore decided that in May 2010, we shall climb Ben Nevis together, the tallest mountain in Britain and will try to raise the equivilant height of Ben Nevis in money for Asthma UK. This is a whopping £4,460!! With Zara's determination and zest for life, she is looking forward to it and can't wait to do a cartwheel on the top of Ben Nevis, although I on the other hand have different thoughts! None the less, we will do this!!
Asthma UK is an amazing charity, that provides support to over 5 million sufferers in the UK. Zara's and my aim in raising this money is to specifically help create greater awareness of what to do in the event of seeing somebody experience a severe asthma attack or indeed if you ever have to perform CPR. Trust me, I can tell you from experience that if you do not know what to do, it is very scary!
I know times are hard and we are in a recession and everybody wants a bit for their charity, but this really is a great cause and has come about for very meaningful reasons. We both appreciate any help and support you can give.
