Wishing Well House is providing scholarships for children with autism who wish to study music, dance, art, singing or drama. We work with colleges willing to offer these courses. The arts can help children with autism to improve verbal communication & improve social interaction and develop talent.

Story

TO ALL MY FRIENDS, FAMILY AND COLLEAGUE's!

I'm doing a sponsored fire walk.... yep you heard it right a Fire walk........ walking across hot coals for charity....

....................................................................................................................................................

BUT, BEFORE YOU READ ANY FURTHER, Take a look at the face on the picture. He's my lovely 4 year old Autistic son (Higher Function - On the Autism Spectrum)... incase you didn't know.

Through using methods from the ABA (Lovass) program we have been able to help our son lead a relatively normal life... but not all children get this chance or get the help they need!!

(....not pointing fingers at local authorities!!) cough cough

His face is to really bring home whom you'll be helping. He represent the children "YOU WILL BE HELPING" by sponsoring the Wishing Well House Autism charity....

So I need you as my FRIENDS, FAMILY AND COLLEAGUE's to help me make a difference!!!

Please also see the "SPECIAL THANX TO" section at the bottom of this page

...........................................................................................................

So as I said before, I'm doing a sponsored Fire walk.... walking across hot coals for charity....

Read more about it here :-

...

Don't worry folks I'm not crazy ... People have been doing this sort of thing in Egypt and some Hindu cultures in India for 1000's of years... In the USA and over here in the UK for quite a few years....

....And yes there is a little bit of fear...

Well, 1000+ degrees of heat for fear, but 100's of people in the UK do it every year for Charity and Corporate events.... no-one so far has been burnt, over here anyway!!

Some silly man in America did burn himself, but he went to the event after having a few beers before hand.... and... well... his feet felt nice and warm afterwards!

What I need is for you guys to sponsor me for Children with Autism Charity - http://www.wishingwellhouse.co.uk/

Unfortunately there isn't many, if any charities out there that have enough funding to support and help these children progress and ultimately lead a normal life, which I also know first hand!

....................................................................................................................................

I want to raise £1500 - at least!! Through you guys!

BUT IDEALLY I'D LIKE TO RAISE  £3000!!!!

....................................................................................................................................

If your wondering what I'm going to donate, firstly I'm paying for the fire walk, which is £50 and I'm also going to donate £300 out of my own pocket...

If anyone wants to come along and do it with me then let me know!! Any support is welcomed

The following statistics are from The National Autistic Society website:

Significant failures in our education system are causing misery for thousands of families affected by autism in England*.

  • > Approximately 40% of children with autism have been bullied at school.
  • > 1 in 100 children have autism but there is currently no requirement for trainee or practicing teachers to undertake any training in autism and over 70% of schools are not satisfied with the level of their teachers' training.
  • > Over 25% of children with autism have been excluded from school, usually due to a lack of understanding and awareness on the part of the school.
  • > There are more appeals to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal about schooling for children with autism than for children with any other type of special education need.

* The term autism is used to refer to all conditions on the autistic spectrum, including Asperger syndrome

...........................................................................................................

ANY DONATIONS THAT YOU WISH TO MAKE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED AND WILL REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO SOMEONE'S LIFE.....

...

Hopefully, I'll have someone filming it for me, but I'll definately have some pictures for you!!!!

...

I've seen personally what a difference time and effort put into an Autistic child can achieve and you really will be giving them the future they deserve!

...

...

This will take place in TAUNTON RUBGY CLUB on the 26th of September!!!
