My story

Thanks for visiting this page.

My name's Francis Mulhern, and I'm a company lawyer in Kent, England.

We in the west live in an age of unparalled wealth and security, but we often forget that our society owes its security to the troops - men and women, of all ages, races and faiths - who have fought for our country - from before 1939 right up until the present day.

The bottom line is that our troops aren't very well paid - so when something goes wrong they often don't have the same resources to fall back on as many civilians would have built up during their working lives.

This is where forces charities - such as the Army Benevolvent Fund - come in, providing help and assistance to members of the armed forces in their time of need.

In time, I'll be fundraising for all branches of the armed forces, but for now I'm concentrating on the ABF. I'll be running the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon in February 2005, and the money I raise will go towards helping the ABF help those who have willingly risked laying their lives down for you and I. And some of them still have the injuries to prove it. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Army Benevolent Fund will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.

I am happy to help. Goodluck! Donation by HB 13/04/05
