I will be competing in an Arctic Biathlon as part of a team, on sleds and skis, in the extreme winter conditions of the Swedish Lapland wilderness to raise money, with your help, for Kids Company.
On the first day the team will harness their dogs to sled and compete against other teams in time trials over a gruelling 30km circuit, sledding under torchlight and over extreme terrain.
On the second day the team will ski cross country 25km over punishing terrain through the wilderness via Karpasjarvi and finish up, exhausted at a remote lodge.
Temperatures are likely to drop to as low as minus 30° by day, so it’s not worth thinking about night time temperatures and wind chill factor. There will be a maximum of 5 hours of twilight per day, so much of the biathlon will be undertaken in darkness !

Kids Company is a charity founded in 1996 in order to provide practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people. Many of the 13,500 children reached by Kids Company’s services have experienced severe and multiple trauma. The support they offer is tailored to the needs of each individual child.
