I never thought I'd even dream of walking across the Sahara desert, travelling on foot, seven hours a day for ten days. Well, I've decided to set myself a personal challenge and raise money for charity at the same time. Do you hear a pitch for sponsorship coming on?
The challenge is twofold. Firstly I need to make it across the Sahara desert in Morocco in temperatures that could exceed 30 degrees Celsius. The other part of the challenge involves meeting or preferably exceeding my fund raising target and this is where you can help. Your donations advance the work of Classic FM Music Makers and I’ll be encouraged and thinking of you all as I walk across the desert.
Classic FM Music Makers funds music therapy and education projects which help needy children and vulnerable adults across the UK. Projects funded include Live Music Now which provides access to workshops and performances by high calibre musicians for persons such as people with mental and physical disabilities who might otherwise not have the opportunity. Future Talent, also funded by Classic FM Music Makers, provides guidance and support for talented children who wish to pursue music as a goal. As the name suggests, Classic FM is a radio station that brings classical music to people as they travel, work and generally get on with life so the charity complements its commercial activity very neatly.
Reach for your wallets and think of me in the Sahara. Remember, you can sponsor me as many times as you like!
