Story
"Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." - T. Roosevelt
My grandmother suffered dementia, and it's highly probable more people in our families will experience the condition as they age. Almost everyone you meet fortunate enough to know their elders has their own story. In the UK alone, one in three people will die with dementia. So in all likelihood, Gemma or I will suffer at some stage. And we can't think of anything worse than losing your memory and your mind.
As our core fundraising appeal we are heading to Ethiopia to trek 100 miles through the Simien mountain range - a series of peaks which will culminate in a slog to 15,000ft above sea level to the summit of Ras Dashen. We are already in training three times a week and will climb Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis here in UK before it is time to board the plane for the real deal.
We are holding a series of fundraising events at the Wheelbarrow Castle (link - #mce_temp_url#) - the first of which is a charity Gala dinner with an auction of promises on May 24th. Contact the pub on 01386 792 207 for tickets and information.
Updates will follow, and thanks for reading.
