Why your donation matters

DONATE TO OUR EDUCATION PROJECT IN WORSAJ: Rather than continuing to fund school construction across Afghanistan, AC will concentrate its efforts in one region with a new sustainable development model. Worsaj is in the North East of Afghanistan, where we aim to provide education for a population of 70,000. Existing schools in Worsaj have either very limited or no facilities and many children cannot reach these schools from their distant villages. We will address these issues and guarantee that every child has access to education, with your help! Find out more about how at www.afghanconnection.org . For just £35 you can support a child's education for a year at Community Based School. Our ethos: if we can change one life for the better, our work is worthwhile.

Case study: donations in action

Miriam wants to be a teacher. Her school is called 'Bibi Ayisha' and educates 1300 girls. Hardly a girl at the school has a mother who can read or write. At the beginning of 2011, Dr Sarah Fane, founder of AC, received a letter from one of the girls studying at Bibi Ayisha High School which shows just how much an education means to girls in Afghanistan: "The best memory in my life is this one - so one day a kind and best woman came to our country and she built a good and nice school for us. Now we are very happy because we have a school in our Province and all of the girls can go to this school and study their lessons. We want to graduate and teach and make a positive contribution to our society. Thank you kind and lovely woman,"
