Why your donation matters

In 2009, a Headteacher from Oxfordshire saw for herself the difference your donations to the African Children's Fund make. After visiting a number of schools already in our Porridge Club scheme, she was taken to a school in a rural area which was not yet participating.

The school was derelict and silent. The classrooms were appalling. But worst of all was the children with shaved heads, ill-fitting clothes and no shoes. They were totally lifeless. While there, the children received their first bowl of porridge. Very slowly, they came to life - chatting, moving, playing and laughing - and she realised their dullness and silence was caused by hunger.

Those same children are now happy, lively and much more attentive. It costs just pence to feed a child - donate now to change a life.
