Why your donation matters

In the last 18 months we have significantly impacted and made lasting change to the lives of almost 30,000 of the most vulnerable and at risk older people in our society and identified unclaimed benefit of £821,243.

The people we have helped include:

28,444 older people through the Advice and Advocacy telephone service 263 older people with particularly emotional and complex needs through the First Connect Service 428 older people benefiting from dedicated advocacy support including 54 older people who experience elder abuse.

Age NI services have a particular focus on addressing poverty and isolation.

Case study: donations in action

When Age NI First Connect Coordinators visited Bill, they were shocked to see the condition he was living in. He was the victim of an aggressive robbery and was alone and frightened.

After a number of visits we discovered Bill’s interests and were able to link him to a group in his area. We accompanied him for his first visit. During discussions he also mentioned he would like to move. We gave him options, contacted the Housing Executive and will take him along to see sheltered housing options.

Sadly Bill had been forgotten by society but gradually he is getting his life back. Bill’s story is not unique. He could be your dad, neighbour or friend... Bill could be you.

He is the reason that Age NI exists - to deliver care services, provide advice, campaign, fundraise and influence our decision-makers to improve later life for us all. For more information or to make a referral telephone 0808 808 7575.
