WE MADE IT
After 163.6 miles and 17 hours 20 minutes in the saddle.
And yes that is Birmingham in the photograph and yes we did cycle all the way despite several punctures, pedals falling off and the baking heat.
IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO MAKE A DONATION - PLEASE HELP US REACH
£1,500
We are : Justine Rich, Daniel Blackwell, Duncan Booth & Richard Newman
We are all project managers who work for BT at Leavesden Park in Watford. A month ago Richard came up with the idea that we shoud get on our bikes and cycle the length of the Grand Union Canal. We all agreed, not knowing quite what we'd let ourselves in for. The canal runs from Paddington, London to Birmingham and is approximately 160 miles in length. We plan to complete the ride in 3 days from 4th-6th August covering 55 miles each day. After adding on time for dodging fishermen and walkers we reckon that each day we will be in the saddle for 6 long hours and are expecting sore bums and legs!
We were just going to do it for a bit of fun(!), but then thought it would be a great idea if we could do something to help out a local cause in the process. We are planning to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamstead. It is a local charity to us all which provides palliative care to people with life limiting illnesses. If you want to find out more about the charity just click this link www.stfrancis.org.uk
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Hospice Of St Francis (Berkhamsted) Ltd will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.
Many thanks for your support.
