I'm leaving on 18th July 2008 to cycle around the world for a couple of years. I thought that this would be a good chance to raise some money for the street children / orphans in Kathmandu. I first visited Nepal in May 2006 when I was on a years sabbatical from work, I intended to stay for two weeks, but this turned into five months. It's fair to say that I fell in love with the country and it's people.
During my time in Nepal I helped out in an Orphanage in Kathmandu and got to know some of the street kids in Pokhara. A lot of these street kids are taken from remote villages and brought to the city to work, some are sold off to families in the West.
I spent a further six weeks in Nepal in Dec 07 / Jan 08 and visited the White House, Kathmandu and they are doing fantastic work reintroducing the kids back to their families.
