I am raising money and promoating the work of BLESMA*.  The British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association aims to give limbless ex-Service men and women everywhere a counselling and caring service and help in all everyday problems. Today there are some 6,000 limbless veterans from two world wars and subsequent campaigns and still they come from keeping the peace in so many other places including Northern Ireland, the Falklands, the Gulf and in support of the United Nations. The Association also caters for the many war widows who devoted their lives to caring for their seriously disabled husbands and who themselves, are now in need of support. BLESMA needs at least £2m each and every year to maintain the present level. It's a lot of money, but it buys much more than can ever be evaluated in terms of pounds and pence. It buys something that it is often said money cannot buy. It buys happiness. Happiness in the form of grants for the relief of financial hardship, continuing grants to widows; Residential Homes for permanent residence, convalescence, or change of air, as well as a break for relatives from nursing care; rehabilitation training, places in employment; pensions case-work research on artificial limbs and appliances.

BLESMA has been running for over 75 years and needs our help!!!  Help for Heros has been very good at brting service men and womens needs to  the fore but they will only help those injured in Iraq or Afghanistan on active service.  This is where BLESMA differs, they will help serving and ex-serving personnel injured from ops or out on our roads or from an illness.  They run two BLESMA homes as well as assisting at Headly Court, the military rehab center.
