My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

In 1987 I had a very serious Industrial Accident in which I almost completely Severed my Left Hand, I have since suffered acute Neurological Pain, which is difficult to cope with not only for me but for the people around me, namely my family.

However, could any of us as parents even begin to imagine the severity of the PAIN that the unfortunate people who have to visit Claire House are going to have to endure, as they have to watch their Terminally ill Children enter their last few days?

Furthermore, this pain has been felt by my own family, as my Nephew tragically never returned from Africa in 2005 aged 27. He never reached his goal, but I am absolutely determined to do so, as I will hopefully place a momentum from his Mother in his memory at the peak of Kilimanjaro.

I am very lucky !!  I have the pleasure of waking each day to my 7 wonderful children, I know from my own personal experience which is the lesser of the 2 pains.

Now you have come this far please dig as deep as you possibly can and support me. Yes my target is large 19340.00 pounds sterling, this figure is the same as the the altitude that I hope to achieve, as Mt Kilimanjaro stands at 19340 ft above sea level.

My training regime has began, I am now walking up to 20kms daily in the heat of the mid day sun (as I do live in Menorca). I am going to endure pain and discomfort but hopefully my endurance and determination shall ensure my success.

No matter what, I cannot possibly feel the same pain that the unfortunate families who have to visit Claire House will undoubtably feel, in order to give their Terminally ill Child the best nursing and care in their last days. Visit www.claire-house.org.uk  for more information.

I am eternally grateful to all who have made a donation towards my campaign, please ask your family and friends if they would consider to support me also, every little helps and will get me nearer my target. Thank you.

Alan
