Story

Its great that you have visited my page. I am part of a 5 man team raising money on behalf on the National Deaf Childrens Society. Its a great cause and I hope that you will feel our team efforts are worthy of a financial contribution.

We completed the challenge on the weekend of the 20th and 21st June. It was REALLY tough going on the first day as the weather was awful! Pouring with rain and cold. Navigation was made more difficult by low visibility - down to 20 metres in some areas. The team slogged on bravely and we eventually made it, tired and hungry 15 hours and 20 minutes after we started day 1. After a bite to eat and a couple of hours sleep we were up again at 4am to begin day 2. Thankfully, the weather was ideal for walking, cool and dry. So we only had 8 hours and 40 minutes to complete 14 hills! The support staff were skeptical but with a strong effort in the second half we made it! For me it was probably the toughest physical challenge I have ever attempted and so I can promise you we earned every penny you have all kindly sponsored. THANK YOU. I have attached some pictures - have a look and give some more money if you feel like it! Special thanks to Leader Mick for making sure we didn't walk of a cliff or freeze to death and by encouraging us to walk faster to get away from his corny jokes. Thanks too for  Anna and Alex for their support accross the two days. Most of all, my thanks to my family for putting up and supporting me for this event and all the weekends they missed out becasue I was training. And of course a final thank you to you for sponsoring me in the first place from me, my team and all the deaf children and their families who will be helped as a result. THANK YOU!

Our training consisted of numerous walks in home locations in our spare time and two trips to Snowdon in an attempt to practice walking in mountainous (or at least hilly) terrain. We were taught the basics of navigation. It was very chilly on the top of Snowdon BUT overall a great day and the weather was perfect!

On Febraury 22nd I completed the first part of my fundraising challenges for 2009. I ran in the Great North West Run - Blackpool in February (BRRR!). It was a tough run, not helped becasue I had a cold! But then what do you expect in February! I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has sponsored me for the run and in general up to now! THANK YOU!

All of this preparation is, of course, for our June adventure when my friends and I are ascending 24 peaks in the lake district in 24 hours and all the peaks are over 24 hundred feet! We are aiming to raise over £5,000 together and my contribution (with your help) will be £1,000. I have a range of events going on through 2009 to raise the money including the half marathon in February  - so I hope you are able to make a contribution for such a worthy cause - it must be worth a few bob for the thought of me sweating round the streets of Blackpool in the middle of February! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Please give generously.
