I have been planning this hike since last summer and combining it with the opportunity of helping out a charity which provides support to those with learning difficulties is a great opportunity and privilege. 

The hike will be over approx 4 days and is the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis twice in a few days with a 15-mile hike in between. I will be camping out in the canyon and look forward (?!?!) to meeting the creatures I have read about - scorpions, rattlesnakes, biting red ants and the tarantula hawk wasp, to name but a few. Apparently no one makes a sealed, armour plated tent so hopefully my snoring will keep the wildlife at bay.
