Sadly, on September 5th 2007, Mike Hill lost his battle against Motor Neurone Disease. These runs are now dedicated to his memory.
oOo
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
On Sunday 30th September I will begin my "4 half marathon challenge". I plan to do 4 half marathons on 4 consecutive Sundays, starting with the Great North Run.
The full schedule is as follows:
Sunday 30th September - Great North Run ... completed in 2h 17m
Sunday 7th October - Kenilworth Half Marathon .... completed in 1h 58m 19s ... a new PB !!
Sunday 14th October - Leicester Half Marathon .... slightly disappointing 2h 01m .. I had hoped to get under 2h again, but my dodgy knee let me down at 11 miles !!!
Sunday 21st October - Coventry Godiva Half Marathon .... challenge completed with a time of 1h 58m 34s ... just 15s slower than my PB at Kenilworth ... if only I hadn't stopped to go to the toilet, I should have done a "Paula Radcliffe" !!!
Thanks to everyone who sponsored me !
My friends Dad has MND .... she wanted to add a few words of her own to this web page ...
About Motor Neurone Disease
The motor neurone diseases (MND) are a group of progressive neurological disorders that destroy motor neurones, the cells that control voluntary muscle activity such as speaking, walking, breathing, and swallowing.
MND is typically fatal within 2-5 years. Around 50% die within 14 months of diagnosis. As a rough estimate, 1 in 5 patients survive for 5 years, and 1 in 10 patients survive 10 years.
Although there is currently no cure for MND, the search for a drug that will slow MND progression is underway. Your donations will help this research. For more details about this disease, take a look at http://www.mndassociation.org/
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Motor Neurone Disease Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
Alan
