Story
I am sure you all know, or will know of someone who has suffered mental health problems. The most prevelant in our society being depression which in its most severe cases can lead to people taking their own lives. I myself have had experience of this with someone close to me recently. It has opened my eyes to the stigma that is attached to such a common condition, the shame that sufferers feel, and how alone they can feel.
Mental health problems aren't restricted to the stereotypical image we all of have of a cruelly termed 'mental' person, but real people experience them. The people you went to school with, relatives, work collegues and friends will be the people who will suffer from mental health, maybe even you. It is surprising how many people you will know are on anti- depressants and have been for a very long time.
Despite this, mental health charities are some of the most poorly supported. I want to do my bit to raise awareness so have decided to do the Great North Run this year for Mind. Your donation will go a long way to improve the support that Mind can offer to vulnerable people at difficult stages in their lives. Not only providing help for sufferers but to their loved ones also- as its hard watching someone you love living at rock bottom.
Any donation is a positive step and thankyou for your time.
