Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I have decided to volunteer from June 22nd - 18th July at the , situated in Waterfall (near , on the east coast of South Africa) it is an orphanage that accommodates about 45 children. Most of these children have lost their parents due to HIV/AIDS.
The £420 I need to fundraise will enable me to do the following:
- Teach the orphans English - help prepare them for their futures.
- Aid them with their homework.
- Help the house mothers to care for the youngest children during the day by changing nappies, bathing them, dressing them.
- Prepare the orphans for elementary school by conducting pre-school lessons. The pre-school is held several times a week.
- Maintenance work: paint doors, work in the garden, build a fence or repair the roof.
- Bring a child to the doctor.
- Help on the food shop.
- Organise parties, trips to local attractions, swimming lessons.
- Spend time with the children. “An important aspect of volunteer work at Agape is simply being someone on whom the children can rely. Most of the children have lost their parents and other terrible things have happened to them. Love and attention are of great importance to them.”
