My story

This page has been set up on behalf of Alex Stobbs by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Alex is a very talented musician and conductor with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) who has inspired many people all over the world.

In 2008 Alex starred in the Channel 4 documentary A Boy Called Alex, conducting Bach's 'Magnificat' for chorus and orchestra in Eton College Chapel.

In October 2007 he was awarded a choral scholarship to Kings College Cambridge, which he took up along with a place to read music. He was also offered a place to study piano at the Royal Academy of Music.

Alex's long term ambition is to be a conductor and on April 5th 2009 he conducted Bach's St Matthew Passion in London. This is the subject of a new documentary ‘Alex: A Passion for Life’ which airs on Thursday 8 October at 9pm on Channel 4 followed by a second programme at 10pm on More4. Alex has also written a book about his experiences,
A Passion for Living, published by Hodder.

If you have been inspired by Alex and would like to donate to his chosen charity, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, we are very grateful.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK’s only national charity dealing with all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis (CF).  It funds research to treat and cure CF and aims to ensure appropriate clinical care and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis.
