As by now you will have probably guessed, we are embarking upon the exciting and exhilarating adventure that is the Mongolia Charity Rally 2009. As if 2 girls driving 10,000 miles across some of the harshest terrains with very little mechanical experience isn't challenging enough, we have decided to do this all for charity, Save the Children and it is here that we need your help. In order for our challenge to take off we have set ourselves a target of raising at least £5000 by the time we leave with the view of increasing this amount through the eventual sale of our (hopefully) trusty automobile in Mongolia.

Save The Children operates a number of highly regarded projects in Mongolia, which are hugely beneficial to the local population. In 2008, they helped to improve the quality of education for 12,125 pre- and primary school children by training 485 preschool teachers in child-centred teaching methods. They also enabled 2,593 poor, nomadic, minority ethnic and disabled children to go to school by setting up kindergartens and providing mobile teachers. Working with a local partner, they provided direct services for 709 disabled children. And more than 2,000 disabled children benefited from training and information they gave to their parents and carers.
